Paper resources Scan your paper handouts using a traditional scanner, and use the scanning feature on the Read&Write for Windows toolbar, to convert your newly scanned PDF files into a format that's accessible.

Use the Google Chrome browser to access your online Microsoft Office 365 or One Note documents - this means that you can use the Read&Write for Google Chrome PDF reader extension, which currently includes more tools than the PDF reader feature within Read&Write for Windows/Edge.

Simply, open Google Chrome and;

You're ready to use Read&Write's PDF reader

Locally saved PDF documents To benefit from Read&Write's support features whilst using PDF documents, open Read&Write for Windows and click the PDF reader feature icon. You will then be prompted to browse your documents and select your PDF file.

Online PDFs including Microsoft Office 365 or One Note files You can either use Read&Write for Edge browser, or as mentioned above, opt for our recommended option of using the PDF reader extension within Read&Write for Google Chrome. Simply follow the steps as outlined in our support article.

Getting the most from Read&Write's PDF reader

If you are using Read&Write for Windows or Read&Write for Edge browser, you will be able to have your PDF files read aloud using the PDF reader feature. Check out our handy tutorial video below.


If you are using the Read&Write for Google Chrome PDF reader extension, with your online Microsoft Office 365 or One Note documents, you will notice that the tool comes in the form of a separate toolbar. The toolbar gives you access to most of the features contained within the main Read&Write toolbar, providing a range of support tools for use with PDF documents.
